SEMIAHMOO

The unincorporated community of Semiahmoo, situated between Blaine and Birch Bay on the south shores of Drayton Harbor, is a great place to enjoy the northwest waterfront, offering property owners easy access to the Canadian border and the beautiful city of Vancouver just 45 minutes away. Semiahmoo Bay is the southeastern section of Boundary Bay in the most northern area of Washington State shoreline. The bay is named for the Semiahmoo First Nation, who originally occupied the area. The Semiahmoo Peninsula borders the bay and was home to cannery operations. It is now home to the Semiahmoo Golf Resort, a small community, marina.

Semiahmoo Spit is a spit that protrudes from the westernmost expanse of shore on Semiahmoo Peninsula between Semiahmoo Bay and Drayton Harbor off the coast of Blaine in Whatcom County, Washington state. The spit is home to Semiahmoo Park. Approximately four miles to the northeast of the tip of the spit is the city of White Rock, British Columbia. The spit is approximately 1.25 miles (2.01 km) long and contains approximately 125 acres (0.51 km²) of land, with a resort hotel and several condominium developments and luxury homes.

Blaine's Drayton Harbor opens into Semiahmoo Bay; the harbor is separated from the main body of the bay by Semiahmoo Spit. The Semiahmoo Resort is located south of the spit.

The Washington State Department of Ecology classified the marine waters within Semiahmoo Bay, outside of Drayton Harbor, as extraordinary quality waters for salmonid and other fish migration, rearing, and spawning; clam, oyster, and mussel rearing and spawning; and crustaceans and other shellfish (crabs, shrimp, crayfish, and scallops) rearing and spawning.
